Straight-Leg Calf Stretch Activate the calf muscles, which serve several everyday functions, including standing and walking, so they can easily become tired or stiff.

Instructions

  1. In a staggered stance, stand about two to three feet in front of a wall. Make sure the toes of the back foot are approximately level with the heel of the front foot.
  2. Place your hands on the wall, lean against it, and shift your weight to your back leg until you feel a stretch in your back calf. Hold for 30 seconds, relax and return to starting position.

Tips

  • Avoid bending the extended leg. Make sure you keep it straight as you stretch.
  • Keep the heel of the extended leg on the floor. Do not lift your heel off the floor during the stretch.
