Standing L Raise is a good shoulder strengthening exercise that targets your delts – the rounded, triangular muscles that wrap around each upper arm and shoulder.

Instructions

  1. Stand shoulder-width apart, holding a dumbbell in each hand, and arms bent at a 90-degree angle, palms facing each other.
  2. Rotating your shoulders, raise your arms parallel to the floor. Squeeze the shoulder blades together, hold and then return to the starting position.

Tips

  • Don't raise your hands too high; your shoulders should be parallel to the floor in the top position.
  • Avoid very heavy loads. Use light dumbbells and focus on form.
