Decline Dumbbell Bench Press is a variation of the flat bench press, which is a popular chest workout. In a decline dumbbell bench press activates the lower pectoral muscles as you push weights away from your body.

Instructions

  1. Grasp a pair of dumbbells and lie on an incline bench on your back. Hold the dumbbells with your arms fully extended and directly across your chest.
  2. Slowly lower the dumbbells to the sides of your chest, keeping your elbows close to your body so they form a 45-degree angle in the down position. Pause and then press the dumbbells back to the starting position.

Tips

  • Don't let your elbows flare. Keep your elbows close to your sides throughout the exercise.
