Exercise Description
Barbell Upright Row is an effective upper body exercise. It builds strength in the shoulders and upper back. Barbell upright row is a pull exercise, meaning you''ll be pulling the weight toward you and targeting your posterior chain or the muscles on the backside of your body.
Exercise Instructions

Step 1
Grasp a loaded barbell with an overhand grip and hold the weight in front of your hips with your palms facing your body. Holding the dumbbells as close to your body as possible, pull the bar up to your chest. -
Step 2
During the movement, the elbows should remain apart. When the bar is at chest level (not at the chin), stop for a second and lower the bar back to its starting position.

Exercise Tips
- Don't let your elbows rise above shoulder level.
- Stop moving as soon as your elbows are in line with your shoulders.
- Try not to let go of the bar from the body. Keep the bar close.
