Exercise Description
Barbell Towel Bench Press builds size and strength in the chest and triceps. Using a towel during this movement reduces the extra layer of fat around the belly and helps you become stronger in the area where you try to move the weight.
Exercise Instructions
-
Step 1
Lie on your back on a bench. Place a rolled-up towel over your chest. Grasp the barbell with an overhand grip, which should be slightly wider than shoulder-width apart. Hold the bar above your chest with your arms fully extended; this is your starting position. -
Step 2
Slowly lower the bar until it touches the towel. Be sure to keep your elbows close to your body so your shoulders form a 45-degree angle with your body in the lowered position. Pause, then press the bar straight down and return to the starting position.
Muscle Groups
Barbell Towel Bench Press targets Delts, Pecs, Triceps as seen below.
Exercise Tips
- Don't bounce the bar off your chest. Move the bar in a controlled manner.
- Keep your hips on the bench throughout the movement.
