Assisted Hamstring Stretch

Assisted Hamstring Stretch improves and increases flexibility and improves range of motion in the hip. This exercise also flexes your knee joint, extends your thigh at your hip, and offers medial rotation for your hip and lower leg. This exercise will make it easy to perform your regular tasks such as bending over and walking up on stairs.

Instructions

  1. Lay on the floor with your legs outstretched in front of you. Wrap a rubber band or towel around the ball of one foot.
  2. Raise your leg by pulling the towel or band towards you, keeping your knee straight. Pull until you feel a stretch and hold for up to 30 seconds.

Tips

  • Be sure to keep tension in the band throughout the stretch.
  • Don't use too much force. Do not overstretch the muscle.
  • Avoid straining cold. Always stretch after warming up.
