Exercise Description
Ankle circles are a dynamic stretching exercise that opens up your ankle joints and helps release stress and tension. This is a great exercise to improve your flexibility and also warms up your feet, calves, and ankles, thus preventing any exercise-related injuries.
Exercise Instructions
-
Step 1
Stand on one leg. Raise the other leg a few inches off the floor. -
Step 2
Without moving your leg, rotate your ankle in a large circle in one direction.

Ankle Circles targets Calves, Legs as seen below.
Exercise Tips
- To help with balance, you can also lift your leg, bend your knee, and support your leg by holding it with both hands under your thigh.
- Avoid extra hip movement during the exercise. Keep your hips stable and allow most of the movement to come from your ankle.
- Try to make as many circles as possible within your flexibility range.
