Ankle circles are a dynamic stretching exercise that opens up your ankle joints and helps release stress and tension. This is a great exercise to improve your flexibility and also warms up your feet, calves, and ankles, thus preventing any exercise-related injuries.

Instructions

  1. Stand on one leg. Raise the other leg a few inches off the floor.
  2. Without moving your leg, rotate your ankle in a large circle in one direction.

Tips

  • To help with balance, you can also lift your leg, bend your knee, and support your leg by holding it with both hands under your thigh.
  • Avoid extra hip movement during the exercise. Keep your hips stable and allow most of the movement to come from your ankle.
  • Try to make as many circles as possible within your flexibility range.
