Bent-Over Lateral Raise

Bent-Over Lateral Raise targets your shoulders'' posterior portion and your upper back muscles. This is an excellent exercise to add to an upper-body strengthening routine when your goal is to tone and sculpt your shoulders, arms, and back.

Instructions

  1. Grab a set of dumbbells and lower your arms to your sides with palms facing each other. Keeping your spine straight, bend your torso until your chest is almost parallel to the floor.
  2. With your elbows slightly bent, raise your arms to the sides until they are parallel to the floor. Pause and then slowly return the barbells back to the starting position.

Tips

  • Be sure to squeeze your shoulder blades together at the top of the movement.
  • Keep your upper torso still as you lift weights to the sides of your upper body.
